Using the post industrial, mid austerity backdrop of North East England as inspiration, Brass Monkey is breaking into the Northern music scene with distinctive vocals and his own brand of bluesy, grunge inspired rock. He supported Ryan McCombs at Think Tank Newcastle & played various gigs in NE England before the lockdown. Breaking his teeth on the open mic circuit before becoming known as a gigging acoustic soloist he released his first 2 singles "Breadline" and "Nowhere" in 2019. Both tracks seek to vent the pressure cooker of emotions felt by those left behind in modern Britain. After being debuted by Spark Sunderland and Valley FM in Australia almost simultaneously, "Breadline" received national airtime on Union Jack Radio's "Underdogs." It then went on to receive commended entry status in the UK Songwriting Competition & be played in Canada, Germany, France and the US where it placed at number 1 in the WKW 98.6AM CRAM Top 40. "Nowhere" later received similar airtime & reached number 3 in both the KB Radio Canada Top 25 and the WKW 98.6AM CRAM Top 40. It also reached number 4 in the Banks Radio Australia top 15 & the etunesUK top 25. Both singles were included in Radio TFSCs "Pick of the Week."
